Firstly, let me acknowledge that this picture is slightly out of focus; I'm really (really) new to photography and taking pics for my blog, so I'm learning as I go. What I DO love is that today I get to share a post with you that features my own products! Yippee!
I’m quite aware that I’m possibly the last person on earth to be espousing Coconut Oil for its usefulness in a daily beauty routine but to be honest, I’m not really bothered by that. Ha! I believe we each come to things when it’s the right time for us and this is the space where I get to share what I love, so today I’m bringing you a number of ways to add Coconut Oil into your daily routine.
The most simple and obvious one is to replace your moisturiser(s) with Coconut Oil. I used to moisturise my legs and arms daily but since replacing my old moisturisers with Coconut Oil, I’ve progressed to a full body lathering every day...sometimes twice a day! I’ve noticed such a difference in my skin, both in how it looks and how it feels, that it didn’t feel right anymore to be solely focusing on one or two areas. Not only does my skin now feel smooth and cared for, it actually glows too. I’m not kidding! You need only try it for yourself to see the difference.
I’ve also started using Coconut Oil as an eye make-up remover. I am slowly and consciously simplifying my daily beauty routine, both morning and night, and Coconut Oil has played a huge part in this. I’ve replaced the need for Micellar Water, makeup removal pads and eye cream just with this one simple ingredient and a warm face towel. It feels really good to know that because I’m consuming less packaging and buying fewer products, I’m leaving less of an impact on the planet as a whole by making these simple but conscious changes. What can I say? It’s important to me look after the planet.
Did you know that Coconut Oil can be an effective foot treatment if you suffer from dry and cracked heels? This is especially pertinent giving that we’re heading into summer in WA and you’re likely to be whipping out your sandals any day now. My suggestion is to moisturise your feet after a shower in the evening or a warm foot bath, then pop some socks on. If you want to amp it up a little, add a drop or two of your favourite essential oils. You can leave your socks on as long as you like, overnight is best, but give it at least half an hour to really soak in to your feet before removing if you need to. This is a really great treatment to add to your pampering routine even if your feet aren’t all that dry; they’ll get seriously soft and sandal-worthy for summer in no time!
The final hurrah for Coconut Oil in my beauty routine is its effectiveness as a hair treatment. Some people claim that it can make your hair grow twice as fast if used regularly. Personally, I’ve not seen those effects yet, and my hair grows realllly fast anyway but it would be worth giving it a go if you struggle with growing your hair long. I use Coconut Oil twice a week at the moment as a scalp and hair treatment and I love the feeling of my hair after I’ve left it in overnight and then washed it out the next morning. I’ve not noticed any oiliness left on my pillowcase afterwards but I do apply it lightly, so be mindful of this when applying. When you incorporate this regularly into your routine, you can look forward to shiny, healthy and luscious locks achieved by completely chemical-free means! Who wouldn’t want that?
The best Coconut Oil to buy is the cold-pressed, organic stuff. These days that is usually the kind I see for sale even on the big supermarket chain shelves, so it shouldn’t be hard to find. The big jar I bought above about 3 weeks ago and so far, I’ve gone through about a third of it. That might seem like a lot but I do use this baby daily and I’m not shy about rubbing a decent amount into my skin when I apply it.
Are you a Coconut Oil officianado? Are you yet to try it out but you're curious? Let me know in the comments!
