Hey my lovelies! Today I am bringing you the first in a series of inspiring blog posts featuring women that I've been lucky enough to connect with through Instagram...aka my Insta Sistas! Kicking off the list is this inspiring, kind and total boss babe, Emily Holliday.
Emily, please tell us all a little about yourself...
I currently reside in a suburb of Kansas City with my husband of almost 3 years and our fur child Sadie :) I work full time in a commercial insurance agency by day and am a health coach by night. Coaching is my passion, purpose and motivates me daily. There is no other feeling like the one you get from helping others reach their goals. When I am not working on one of the monthly challenge groups that I and my team host monthly for people looking to reach their health goals… I enjoy reading, cheesy Hallmark movies, wine, beauty/fashion/home blogs, singing on the worship team at church and flea marketing. [MJ: Love this!]
What’s your health philosophy?
I have a few philosophies…Balance. Life is too short to not enjoy the things you love. Just enjoy in moderation. Take it slow. Don’t change everything at once on your health journey because you will most likely get overwhelmed and give up. Change a little bit at a time and you will make these habits. Accountability. Find someone or a group to be apart of to hold you accountable. Life gets busy and its easy to make excuses but when you have someone or a group of people to keep you on track, it’s more fun and easier.
What drives you to live an amazing life and how do you stay motivated?
Before I became a health coach I felt very lost. I struggled with anxiety & depression like many others do. One day I broke down, I had enough. I was tired of hating my body, feeling like I didn’t have a purpose and I wanted more for my future. I never want to go back to feeling like that…so that motivates me. I want to live a health long life for myself and future children someday…so that motivates me. Hearing from people that I inspire them or have helped them make positive changes in their lives…that motivates me to keep going every single day. We all deserve to live an amazing life. Motivation will come and go but you have to figure out the reason why you want to live a better & healthier life and remind yourself daily of this. It won’t be always be easy but it will always be worth it! [MJ: Completely agree honey]
If you had one thing you could say to someone just starting out on their journey of health and fitness, what would it be?
My advice to anyone starting out on their health and fitness journey would be my three philosophies I mentioned before. I would also add to write down your goals & reason why for making this change and put it somewhere you can see it everyday.
